In a world where many individuals and families struggle to make ends meet, we at Critters Community Network CIC play a vital role in providing essential services and support. We focus on helping those in need by offering pet food, accessories, hygiene products, cleaning supplies, clothing & baby items. This makes a significant difference in the lives of people and their pets.
The Importance of Critters Community Network CIC
Critters Community Network CIC is a beacon of hope for many families who are facing financial hardships. We understands that pets are not just animals; they are beloved members of the family. By providing pet food and accessories, we ensure that families can keep their pets, which can have a profound impact on their mental and emotional well-being.
In addition to pet-related items, we also offers hygiene and cleaning products. These essential items help maintain a clean and healthy living environment and to help people to keep clean & healthy, which is crucial for overall well-being. Furthermore, we also provides clothing and baby products, ensuring that families have access to most of the basic necessities.
Community Impact
Our projects have had a profound impact on the Rotherham and DN12 communities. By addressing the immediate needs of individuals and families, we have helped to:
* Reduce pet abandonment
* Improve human hygiene and well-being
* Provide essential clothing and baby items
* Promote dignity and reduce social isolation
Volunteer Support
We rely heavily on the dedication of volunteers who donate their time and resources to support its mission. Volunteers assist with item collection and distribution, and outreach efforts, every member of the charity is a volunteer (nobody gets paid for what we do). Their unwavering commitment ensures that we can continue to make a difference in the lives of those we serve.
We are a lifeline for those experiencing poverty and hardship in Rotherham and DN12. Through our network (a pet bank, a hygiene bank, and a clothing/baby bank), we provide essential support to individuals and families, empowering them to overcome challenges and live with dignity. By addressing the root causes of poverty and fostering community connections, we are creating a more just and equitable society for all.
We are always accepting donations, if you have any donations, please contact us (via email or on Facebook), monetary donations can be made by cash via Bank Transfer (details below)
Recognising the profound bond between humans and their pets, we established our Pet Bank in 2021 (this was at that point our only project) to ensure that low-income families can afford to care for their furry companions. Via the pet bank we distribute pet food & supplies, alleviating the financial burden of pet ownership and preventing animals from being surrendered.
Basic hygiene is often overlooked but essential for dignity and well-being. Our Hygiene Bank provides free toiletries, sanitary products, and cleaning supplies to individuals and families struggling to afford these necessities. By ensuring access to essential hygiene items, the hygiene bank promotes health and reduces the stigma associated with poverty.
Clothing and baby items can be extremely expensive for families living on a tight budget. via our Clothing & Baby Bank we aim to offer a range of gently used clothing, shoes, toys, and baby essentials, providing much-needed support to those with limited resources.
Did you know that despite being one of the wealthiest countries in the world, the UK still faces significant challenges related to poverty and inequality. For example, according to the Joseph Rowntree Foundation, in 2020, around 22% of the UK population, or approximately 14.5 million people, were living in poverty. This includes both absolute poverty, where individuals struggle to meet basic needs like food, clothing, and shelter, as well as relative poverty, which is defined in relation to the average income in society.
Another aspect is the concept of in-work poverty, which refers to individuals or families who are employed but still struggle to make ends meet due to low wages, precarious employment contracts, or insufficient working hours. In fact, a significant portion of those living in poverty in the UK are working households.
